This is the description given by a land owner
This is a beautiful piece of Florida paradise. There is peace and quiet and lots of blue sky. It is on the top of a gentle ridge with a clear, serene lake close by. The lake is a challenge to fish because it is so clear and deep. There are no combustion engines allowed-only electric motors or people propelled boats can use this lake. The lake is private and access is given only to area property owners and guests (renters of this site are considered guests for this purpose).
The property is flat meadow with scatted pine, oak, and dogwood trees. There is room for horses and a portable stall is permitted. Your hosts are horse people and encourage camping with horses. There is room to ride and the roads are packed clay and used for riding.
The gulf and beaches are about an hour away. Panama City is the beginning of an interesting stretch of beaches and little towns, no matter which way you turn when you reach the gulf. Highway 98 runs along the gulf for miles and miles and this makes for easy exploring. Gulf World Marine Park, the Museum of Man in the Sea, and St. Andrews State Park are all located in Panama City. Florida Caverns State Park is north on Hwy. 231. Both parks offer swimming and snorkeling. There are, of course, several dive shops ready to help you dive the waters of the gulf. Canoe rental is available in Youngstown for trips on the beautiful unspoiled Econfina Creek.
Tallahassee, the state capital, is a little more than an hour's drive away. It is a nice town with friendly people and things to see and do. Good restaurants are plentiful. There are good golf courses in the area. The Alfred B Maclay Gardens State Park and the Goodwood Museum and Gardens offer a little history and lots of garden walks. |
